Gentle Musings are digital love notes on embracing life as a creative practice. This is a publication of Regarding Dew, a creative research studio.
We embody and engage with our inherent wholeness through creative engagement with life and living all of life as a creative practice.
A note on themes in this library of posts: my writing is a constellation of overlapping themes all in conversation together. You might find that I’m getting at the same kinds of concepts from a bunch of different angles, because I am. This is also a way of sharing with you what the world of Regarding Dew looks like from a birds-eye view.
Here is some music to accompany your exploring…
𓆸 Building a Bridge Back to Yourself — Here I look at returning to creative practices, reconnecting to your inner child, building self-trust, practiced tendencies of self-aversion, making space for yourself when you have significant roles and responsibilities that you’re holding, prioritizing your creativity, writing as a pathway back to yourself.
𓆸 Creative Obstacles — This is the broadest category to catch all the difficult experiences we face when engaging with our inherent creativity. Here we explore overwhelm, perfectionism, the inner critic, loneliness in creative pursuits, resistance, shame, self-doubt, broken promises, creative fear…
𓆸 Community — Creativity support systems, communities of practice, deep belonging, willingness to be seen, fear of being misunderstood, and being vibrantly expressed in your creative beingness for the sake of our collective evolution… I share all of this as a self-proclaimed recovering wallflower.
𓆸 Compassion — Engaging with what’s difficult instead of trying to fix it, cultivating presence, loving your humanity, meeting your resistance and fear and figuring out this whole being-a-human experience
𓆸 Creative Courage — because confidence is overrated and creative gumption is cool!
𓆸 Creative Dormancy → Living Out Loud — Exploring how we move from creative dormancy (creative overwhelm—too many ideas! too daunted!—and/or creative stagnancy—stuck in a rut, struggling with momentum) into practicing fluid, congruent, and courageous creative expression
𓆸 Inspiration — You deserve to live an inspired life. This section also includes compilations of interesting things I call Resonant Resources.
𓆸 Digital life — Ongoing explorations with social media, the internet, digital boundaries, digital clutter, living more life IRL.
𓆸 Everyday life — Daily rhythms, dwelling, home, writings on mornings, afternoons, evenings, new days, new months, new cycles; the mundane, everyday moments as the place of creative choice, navigating transitions, digital boundaries, habits, cultivating presence, daily writing, I share all of this as a calm chaotic person!!
𓆸 Creative Fear — We all know it, and there are a million ways of engaging with it from a place of care and curiosity. We need your creative vibrancy! This section is all about when you’re ready to be seen and share yourself in deeper ways beyond the confines of self-doubt, perfectionism, and waiting for life to happen.
𓆸 Inner Landscape — Tending to desire, grief, creative dreams, your inner child, your deepest self, dormant wishes… Looking at ways of being, practiced tendencies, subtle energy, and deeply held beliefs, cultivating presence, and trusting your you-ness and your life.
𓆸 Creative Overwhelm — Mental clutter and torrents of creative impulses, do you know them?! Writings on creative attention, scarcity and urgency, going at things alone…
𓆸 Creative Practices — This is where I explore the nature of creative processes including things like resistance, consistency, discipline, creative rituals, cycles, building a body of work, and so on.
𓆸 Creative Resistance — Creative stagnancy and inertia (when you are stuck!), creative overwhelm (ahh!), having a chatty inner critic, procrastination, perfectionism… fun stuff, huh? I’ve got you.
𓆸 Self-referenced Living — Slowing down to catch up with yourself, living inner to outer, listening to and remember your wisdom, trusting your unique path; building self-trust.
𓆸 Systems & Structures — I call these Frameworks for Blossoming, aka ways of working and engaging with life through creative rituals, creative practices, boundaries, habits, and communities of practice.
𓆸 Creative Visions — Call them dreams, call them visions … This is all about the support and embodiment of your deepest desires and gifts, and ways to cultivate your creative visions on a daily basis.
𓆸 Vulnerability — For the sensitive ones who have so much magic to bring! Here I explore embracing vulnerability, imperfection, self-forgiveness, boundaries, and why you get to be tender and bold.
𓆸 Writing — Last but soitenly not least (!) Writings on writing as a foundational way of interacting with the world and staying close to yourself, growing a writing practice, journaling even when life is full and intense, thoughts on consistency and discipline and showing up.
I wish that life should not be cheap, but sacred. I wish the days to be as centuries, loaded, fragrant.
