Welcome to Gentle Musings, a publication about reconnecting with yourself, experiencing life as a creative practice, and living out loud. Gentle Musings is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support this work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Good morning/good afternoon/good evening to you <3

I’m writing from my new office/studio (which includes a beautiful easel gifted by a friend!) and wanted to first say thank you to all of the kind emails that I got in response to the last letter, which I loved writing. In case you missed it, I hope that it can offer inspiration and practices that are useful not only in moves, but during any time that you’re feeling the intensity and possibility of transitions:

This letter is to remind you that the Journaling Circle for June, July, and August is on summer pause. I’ll still send writing prompts as usual—and that’s what you’ll find below!

If indulging in a journaling session with yourself (or with a friend!) at a coffee shop, library, or park sounds like some kind of bliss, wander over to the archive for a backlog of reflective writing prompts:

With all that has been going on with the move, last week was a needed reminder that even 5 minutes of writing is powerful and can stir a major insight, reconnect you to the present moment, and offer up some comfort.

And if you write to any of these reflective questions, let me know in a comment or email! It’s always meaningful to connect.

As much as possible, I love to share my work openly and frequently through writings, videos, and podcast episodes. If you feel inspired and changed by what I create, please consider becoming a paid subscriber, either yearly or at a small monthly rate—that’s $5!

Fellow creative small business owners reading this know: each individual pledge of support collectively adds up to make a major difference in freeing up more time to create more public offerings.

One of the perks of being a paid subscriber is that you receive access to Regarding Dew’s Journaling Circle and prompts, one of the few things I keep behind a paywall for free subscribers.

If you’d like to support Regarding Dew but don’t want to be on a subscription cycle, you can give a gift of support—in an amount of your choosing—here.

I hope this goes without saying, but I’m gonna say it: if you are a free subscriber forever, I appreciate you being here. Thank you.

Alright, alright onto the prompts!

I’m sharing part of the first prompts for everyone today <3

For best results: settle into whatever you’re sitting on or feel you feet firmly on the ground, take a moment to look around where you are in this unrepeatable moment (really, look up!) and inhale as you take it all in. Here you are.

🔸 Think about something you want to do/try/be that has objections associated with it (I can’t because… It’s not possible because…). These objections can run the gamut from totally rational to clearly driven by fear or the inner critic.

Got it?

🔸 What are you assuming?

Ok this is a tricky question because assumptions usually benefit from someone with an outside perspective to catch them (it’s like the haunting truth that a person who is mistaken doesn’t realize they are mistaken).

Here are some ways to break it down so that you can take action on what matters to you…
